Haunted Richmond
Love me a good ghost book to start off the year.

Written as a walking tour, Haunted Richmond recounts the major hauntings of Shockoe Bottom. Since it’s founding 400 years ago, Richmond has had it’s fair share of tragedy, and the 13 stories within this book brings you around Shockoe Bottom for a tour of history and ghosts.
Since growing up and semi-settling in Richmond, it was very easy to picture everything from the “virtual” tour. The train tunnel story really got me, though, since I visit Jefferson Park frequently to walk my cat. It’s a neat story to pull out when friends come to visit, though.
Trigger warnings: body horror, child death, chronic illness, death, fire, fire injury, medical content, murder, slavery, suicide, war
